#News - Army dismisses soldier over armed robbery

Umuahia - The Nigerian Army has dismissed the soldier who allegedly
snatched N250 000 from a civilian in Aba area of Abia State, reports Daily Trust.

The soldier, Lance Corporal Itugbu Augustine Omorodion, was a fortnight ago arrested by the Police in Abia State for committing the offence.

Omorodion allegedly robbed a 21-year-old boy simply identified as Ebuka of the money when the victim was going to one of the commercial banks in the town to deposit the money on behalf of his boss.

The 14 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, the unit where the soldier was serving, said in a statement on Wednesday that the soldier was tried under the Armed Forces Act Cap A20 and consequently dismissed.

The statement said the soldier has been handed over to the Nigeria Police for further necessary action.
