President Buhari To Appoint SGF, Chief Of Staff Today

Baring a last minute change, President Buhari is expected to name
his Chief of Staff, Secretary to the Government of the Federation,
personal staff, and that of the vice-president today.

Vanguard reports a source close to the president disclosed Buhari will name his senior officials including the Special Adviser to the National Assembly, Political Advisers, among others “The announcements will be made today baring a last minute change of decision,” the source said.

Yesterday, Buhari sent names of 15 special advisers to the Senate for approval.

The officials were expected to have been named yesterday. Vanguard reports that a senior official attributed the delay to the failure of former officials of the past administration to forward handover notes to the transition committee. “All we have been doing since Friday is poring over these notes. This is because you need to know the position of things before you delegate the appropriate personnel to any establishment of government,” the source said.

Another source hinted that president’s scheduled trip to Niger and Chad might have delayed the announcement.

Since Buhari assumed office as President few days ago, Nigerians have been anxious to know the crop of personnel to be elected into various political offices.

Some political analysts believe that these men will go along way to determine the success or failure of Buhari’s administration. Hence, the need for him to exercise caution and select men of impeccable character.
