Former President Olusegun Obasanjo
on Saturday paid a surprise visit to Itoku Market in Abeokuta, where he exchanged
pleasantries with market women. Obasanjo told them that since he came back from
Abuja he has not come to pay them a visit and so, he is here to do that. He
told them one of the reasons he was there was that they all have to go out on Saturday
to vote and do exactly what they did last week Saturday. It will be recalled
that APC won in Obasanjo’s polling unit with a wide margin, and won overall in
the State too.
The market women who however
know what baba meant without mentioning any party’s name because journalists
had already caught up with him in the market, however chanted Sai Obasanjo, Sai
Amosun as baba waved to them and made his leave.
It will also be recalled that during his 78th birthday few weeks ago, Obasanjo endorsed the re-election bid of the incumbent governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun who is said to be just like his son now. He had said he had done well and should be supported to continue with the good work.
