Abuja - Police have denied a report by a foreign news agency suggesting they had arrested a bomb maker suspected to member of Boko Haram.
The Yobe State Commissioner of Police, Marcus Kwalati Danladi said the report carried by a French publication was false.
“We are doing our best to arrest the situation in the state, but I can tell you that no bomb maker was arrested. I have spoken to the Divisional Police Officer in Potiskum and he told me that no such arrest was made,” Danladi said.
The foreign news agency in the report claimed that an anonymous senior police officer revealed that a man, identified as Ba’na, suspected to be behind the fabrication of explosives used in a series of Boko Haram suicide attacks, was arrested in Yobe State.
It was also claimed that the police officer who was involved in the arrest disclosed that the suspected bomb maker was held in the Arikime area of Potiskum after some weeks of surveillance.
