Yenogoa - Former First Lady, Patience Jonathan and key members
of her political camp on Tuesday boycotted a meeting convened by
former President Goodluck Jonathan to resolve the crisis rocking the Bayelsa State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP),reports The Nation.
While Patience Jonathan is said to be relaxing in London, most of her associates were said to have refused to attend Jonathan’s fence-mending meeting because of the presence of Gov. Seriake Dickson.
The meeting, which was held at Jonathan’s palatial home in Otuoke,
was, however, attended by most members in Dickson’s camp and elders supporting his second term bid. The party in the state is polarized along two camps.
One supports the second term ambition of Dickson; while the other pledges its loyalty to Patience Jonathan, who is bend on stopping the governor's re-election bid. Jonathan during the meeting constituted a three-man committee, headed by former Governor Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, to reconcile aggrieved groups and individuals..
