
The police have begun investigations into the death of two persons, in a clash involving supporters of the People’s Democratic Party and Labour Party in Ebonyi State, Nigeria. Several other supporters were wounded in the face-off which occurred in the Amagu Ikwo area of the state.
Reacting to this, the Police PRO in the state said Policemen had been sent over to the troubled regions to calm the violence in the community. Chris Anyanwu, the PRO, also stated that series of enquiries had commenced into the incident, with the hope of establishing the exact reasons for the political clash.
Anyanwu said; “The [Police] Command will not relent in its effort in ensuring that the forthcoming April 11 governosrhip and State House of Assembly electons in the state are free from violence.”
