An Enugu based prophet, Anthony Nwoko has
predicted that neither Goodluck Jonathan nor
Gen. Buhari would be president after next
month’s election.
It was gathered that the same prophet had in
1993 prophesied the end of the military regime
of former head of state, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida.
In 1998, Prophet Nwoko also prophesied that
late military ruler, General Sani Abacha, would
leave the leadership of Nigeria in a mysterious
way and months later the man died.
Nwoko said:
“In 2010, I told Nigerians that they should
not expect much or any miracle from
Jonathan. Now, in this coming election,
Jonathan will only serve as John the
Baptist and Buhari has not got any
heavenly crown to rule and he will not rule
this country because he hasn’t got that
crown.
Don’t take my prophesies for granted
because I had also told General Abdulsalam
Abubakar not to make Obasanjo president
and I had also warned Obasanjo not to
make late former President Yar’Adua
president and my advice was not heeded
and you saw what happened”, he pointed
out.
He continued, “I had told IBB in 1993 to
leave office and it happened and in 1998, I
prophesied that Abacha would leave office
mysteriously, and you saw what
happened.”
When asked what would happen since he has
prophesied that the two leading presidential
candidates would not be president after
February elections, the 64-year old Prophet said:
“I can see the glory of Nigeria in the South
East and I don’t agree with Wole Soyinka
that Jonathan is Nebuchadnezzar;
Jonathan is a forerunner to the glory of
God.”
Reacting to recent comments by fiery Enugu
Catholic cleric, Rev. Fr. Ejike Mabaka, Prophet
Nwoko said he was not condemning the priest
but “I want to tell him that I can see the glory of
God in the South”.

Nigeria ’ s former president , Chief
Olusegun Obasanjo, has vowed not to
sacrifice his life for the any interest of
any party, but for Nigeria
only .
Obasanjo had, last Monday , when
he hosted some women leaders from
the South- West zone , stated that he
would sacrifice his life for Nigeria to
remain one indivisible entity .
He said this on Wednesday , while
playing host to the presidential
candidate of the National Conscience
Party ( NCP ) , Mr Martins Onovo, who
paid him a visit at his Hilltop residence
in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.
The former president insisted that he
would never close his eyes against
anything that would not be in the best
interest of the nation, while maintaining
that he remained a card - carrying
member of the Peoples Democratic
Party ( PDP ) .
He said he would not keep quiet about
issues concerning the country, saying
“every Nigerian is a stakeholder and
must speak up when things are getting
out of hand .”
He said ; “In this part of the world , we
have a saying that if people sleep and
they put their heads on the same
pillow , they are in danger and that
means there should be some people
that should be critically looking and
watching and also be able to speak up
when they should speak up .
“No matter what others may say ,
because people may come up and say
Nigeria doesn ’ t belong to anybody, I
believe that is a stupid saying , Nigeria
belongs to all of us because anything
that doesn ’ t belong to anybody,
anything can happen to it , for me
Nigeria belongs to all of us and we are
stakeholders in this country.
“Let me make my own position clear , I
am a card -carrying member of PDP
because that is the party on which
platform I became the president of this
country .
“My first pre- occupation is what is
best for Nigeria , Nigeria first, party
second and any other thing third.
Nigeria first means I’ ll sacrifice
anything for the interest of Nigeria and
I can sacrifice my own life for the
interest of Nigeria .
I can’ t sacrifice my
life for the interest of a party, I ’ ll
sacrifice my life for the interest of
Nigeria . ”
The former president extolled the
virtues of the founder of NCP , the late
Human Rights lawyer , Chief Gani
Fawehinmi, describing him as a
genuine social critic .
Obasanjo enjoined Onovo to follow the
footsteps of the late Fawehinmi, whom
he said , was a man of integrity and
honour .

The National Chairman of the PDP Alhaji Adamu
Muazu has alleged that there is great injustice
and lack of equity in their party, describing the
situation as monkey dey work, baboon dey chop.
Alhaji Adamu made this remark at the
Inauguration of the Presidential Campaign
organization at the Legacy building in Abuja
yesterday January 6th.
"Mr. President, I want you to discuss with
your governors, senators, members of the
House of Representatives and other elected
officials. We say that members of the PDP
should not be used and dumped again.
People leave the party because of lack of
equity or injustice. Monkey dey work,
baboon dey chop. That must stop. This
time round, monkey must work and monkey
must eat. A lot of people who left (our
party) did so because of injustice in our
party. The party is full of injustice. The
membership of the APC, LP, APGA and
others are increasing because of this. All
these members are from our party. We
must find out what is wrong and correct
it.” he said

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on
Wednesday said it would not indulge in cheap
campaign propaganda ahead of the February
general elections.
The Director-General of the party’s Presidential
Campaign Organisation, Femi Fani-Kayode , said
this at a news conference in Abuja.
Kayode, a former Minister of Aviation, re-
emphasised that the party would rather base its
campaign on ideas and issues.
He said that ideas and issues were important to
Nigerians, while showcasing its verifiable
achievements across the country to the
electorate.
He said that the party, in the course of its
electioneering, would raise fundamental questions
on the personalities of party flag bearers,
especially that of the opposition APC.
Such questions, he said, would bother around
past records and recent utterances of Gen.
Muhammad Buhari, the Presidential Candidate of
the APC, and what some of the utterances
portended for Nigerians.
Fani-Kayode said that though issues of security
and national development were crucial to political
campaigns, the personalities of party candidates
were equally important.
This, he said, was critical to enable the electorate
to have a better choice of who to vote for at the
elections.
“It is also important for the peace and well-being
of the people.
“More importantly, we shall let the world know
about the sterling performance of our candidate,
President Goodluck Jonathan, over the last four
years.
“We shall make a strong case and appeal to the
Nigerian people to grant him the privilege and
opportunity to serve a second term,’’ he said.
He said that the forthcoming election was a battle
for the sole and destiny of the country, saying
that “ it is a struggle between light and darkness.
“President Jonathan represents greater and better
future for Nigerians.
“The campaign of change of the APC has nothing
to offer Nigerians; its presidential candidate could
not be trusted with power.
“The fact that the APC opposed the proscription
of the Boko Haram sect by the Federal
Government should raise questions.
“No doubt, President Jonathan has done well in
transforming all sectors of the country`s economy
and deserves to be re-elected.
“The PDP represents light, the opposition APC
represents darkness”.
He described President Jonathan as the most
accommodating and credible candidate to govern
the country.
The former minister said that “in spite of acts of
insurgency in the North-East, the PDP-led Federal
Government had done a lot to contain the
situation”.
He dismissed allegations of corruption against the
Federal Government by members of the
opposition, adding that it was working within the
confines of due process.
He maintained that the Federal Government was
doing everything possible to address the issues of
corruption in the country, contrary to views of the
opposition.
“We are doing our very best to fight corruption
and to ensure that Boko Haram is brought to an
end in the country.
“This government is not ashamed and has
absolutely nothing to hide, when it comes to
managing the nation’s resources.
“They need to tidy up their affairs before pointing
accusing fingers at the president and the PDP as
a party,’’ he said.
He said it was necessary for Nigerians to join
forces with the Federal Government to fight acts
of insurgency in the country and the North-East
particularly.
He faulted the allegation of corruption charges
against him during his tenure as aviation minister,
saying that: “I am clean enough to represent and
speak for the President.’’
He said there was so much achievement to
showcase to Nigerians in the course of the
campaign.
The former minister expressed optimism that the
PDP would win the minds of Nigerians to give
President Jonathan and other PDP candidates
their votes at the elections.

Spokesperson of the PDP presidential campaign
organisation Femi Fani-Kayode has described
APC's presidential flag bearer as a rep of
darkness while President Jonathan represents
light. According to him, General Buhari's records
are shameful and disastrous. FFK said this while
addressing newsmen at the PDP campaign
headquarters in Abuja today January 7th
“We wish to inform you that it is our
intention to run a clean campaign that is
based on facts, figures and issues.
We shall
not indulge in the type of cheap
propaganda, mud-slinging and deceit that
the APC and their Presidential candidate
have been indulging in over the last few
weeks and months but it is our full
intention to expose General Muhammadu
Buhari for what he really is, what he stands
for and the great danger that his candidacy
portends for the unity of the Nigerian state
and the peace and well-being of the
Nigerian people.
More importantly, we shall let the world
know about the sterling performance of our
candidate, President Goodluck Jonathan,
over the last four years and we shall make
a strong case and appeal to the Nigerian
people to grant him the privilege and
opportunity to serve a second term. We
believe that we have reached a crossroads
in our nation’s history and that the
forthcoming Presidential Election is a battle
for the very soul and destiny of Nigeria.
We
believe that it is a struggle between light
and darkness. We believe that General
Buhari represents the darkness and that
President Jonathan represents the light. We
believe that General Buhari represents a
return to an ugly past which is best
forgotten while President Jonathan
represents our hope for a greater and better
future. We believe that the APC, on which
platform General Buhari is contesting the
presidential election, represents everything
that is unholy and unwholesome in our
society and that the PDP represents all that
is decent and good. “We believe that the
much-vaunted ‘change’ campaign of
General Buhari represents nothing but a
change from good to evil. If you want a
positive change, you cannot expect to get it
from a man like General Buhari whose
democratic credentials are questionable and
whose record in public office is shameful
and disastrous. Most people do not
remember the atrocities that he committed
when he was in power and it is our
intention to document them and remind the
Nigerian people about them.
Most people have chosen to ignore the
number of things that General Buhari has
said and the number of things that he has
done over the last few months and years
that have brought carnage, division and
strife in our society and that prove that he
is not the sort of person that can be
trusted with power. It is our intention to
bring those things to the attention of the
Nigerian people so that they can make an
informed choice. “We do not believe that
Nigeria ought to be run by a man that is
not capable of tolerating dissent or by a
political party like the APC that has no
sense of remorse, restraint or decency and
that is not capable of accepting a plurality
of views. We believe that President
Goodluck Jonathan has earned the right for
a second term and, in the next few weeks,
we shall make a humble appeal to the
Nigerian people to vote for him massively in
the February 14 Presidential Election. By the
grace and power of God, we shall prevail.”

Sokoto - A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Sokoto
State on Thursday rejected the results of the state's governorship
primary conducted on December 8.
The media recalls that the 3-man electoral panel which conducted the
election and declared the results was headed by Sen. Usman Dukku.
The election was won by Sen. Abdallah Wali, who polled 547 votes,
while the state’s Deputy Governor, Alhaji Mukhtari Shagari, got a
vote, even though he withdrew from the race.
Sen. Abubakar Gada got 193 votes, while the former Minister of
Transport as well as Sports , Alhaji Yusuf Suleiman, got no vote, as
boycotted the poll.
The trio of Shagari, Suleiman and Gada had petitioned the national
leadership of the party, calling for the cancellation of the results and
the conduct of fresh polls.
They cited some irregularities which they alleged marred the
elections, alleging that, it was illegal as “ghost” delegates were
substituted with the original 984 accredited delegates.
The state chairman of the party, Alhaji Ibrahim Milgoma, recently told
news men that the election results still stood.
“As far as we are concerned, there was an election which was won by
Wali, and we are ready for the 2015 general polls even now,” Milgoma,
added.
However, addressing news men in Sokoto on Thursday, a faction of
state executives of the party dissociated themselves from the
election.
The group spoke through the state's organising secretary of the
party, Alhaji Usman Yabo.
“As far as we are concerned, there was no gubernatorial election in
Sokoto State, and we are hereby dissociating ourselves from its
results.”
“We are calling on the national leadership of the party to
dispassionately and urgently attend to the petitions which arose from
it and we want it cancelled.”
“We are however law abiding members of the party and we therefore
want the national leadership of the party to employ its internal
mechanism to resolve the impasse,” Yabo stressed.
